    How Bad Is It to Brush Wet Hair, Really?

    If you pay attention to common hair care tips, you have probably heard, from at least one source, that brushing your hair when it's wet is basically like condemning yourself to a head full of damaged frizz for the rest of your life.

    And as somebody with hair that's been through lots of dyeing and bleaching processes, I wanted to find out once and for all: Is brushing your hair when it's wet actually bad for it?

    According to Eva Scrivo Salon's senior colorist and educator Meri Kate O'Connor, the short answer is no — but it does depend on what you brush your hair with.

    "We use boar bristle brushes when blow drying clients' hair," Meri Kate says.

    "As long as you let the brush dry properly and fully in between uses to make sure the bristles don't get stuck together, it's fine."

    So if you use a high-quality brush, it should glide through hair, detangling it without getting stuck.
