When to take diatabs...
DiatabsĀ® is a medication used for treating acute and chronic diarrhea. It is taken by taking two capsules initially, followed by one capsule after each bowel movement or as recommended by your doctor.
How many diatabs should i takeThe maximum dose is 16mg or 8 capsules a day. If there is no improvement after two days, discontinue the medication. Diatabs should not be used if you have ulcerative colitis, bloody or tarry stools, diarrhea with a high fever, or diarrhea caused by antibiotics.
Over-the-counter (OTC) or prescription medications can be taken for diarrhea, depending on your symptoms and overall health.
Diatabs should not be used for more than two days unless directed by your doctor.
Diatabs before or after meal
If your diarrhea does not improve within 48 hours or worsens, or if you develop a distended, bulging, or painful stomach, stop taking loperamide and seek medical advice.
Children aged 48 to 59 pounds (ages 6 to 8 years) should start with 2 mg to start, then 1 mg after each loose stool that occurs after that.
